My client and I were at my art framers having
a few key art pieces reframed for my client's living room.
We were working on the piece that was going to be the centerpiece of the room and had been the inspiration for the entire project.
My client pulled a sample of moulding off the wall and asked "how about this?"
Scott, my framer, said "that would be really
expensive."
I literally kicked him under the work table and glared as privately as I could muster.
He knows me (we've worked together over a decade) and knows that I never use the word expensive because without context it is meaningless.
Expensive is entirely subjective and has to be compared to something to make it meaningful. There'd been no
comparison made.
And why on earth would I want my client being told something is expensive!
I jumped in and said, "It's worth the investment because this is the frame that is setting the stage for this piece and will be the cornerstone of the design for the room. It's the perfect choice."
Scott, watched his words after feeling my kick and the
glare, and realized that it wasn't up to him to decide what was expensive for my client (that's my client's choice.)
