In one of my coaching sessions this week, my designer client was sharing that her assistant was booking a July trip to Europe.
Her assistant hadn't heard of coronavirus and was ignorant of the impact it was having. Ignorance is a dangerous place to play when it comes to the virus. While it may seem obvious that everyone knows, it's the perfect time to address the fears and concerns (or ignorance) about coronavirus with those you work with.
And whether you're a team of one talking to vendors or you have a design team of 2 to 10, have a conversation about how you're protecting your business against the disruption of coronavirus.
Now, I'm not talking masks and hand sanitizer, or even the move from handshakes to fist bumps, though you can incorporate those, it's your choice. This is about protecting your interior design practice against the inevitable disruption that you may or may not (lucky you) have felt already.
In the ARTICLE HERE, I've identified 5 specific threats – supply chain disruption, clients delaying projects, your own fear of travel and more – and provided the specific actions to mitigate these challenges so your business will survive during the disruption and thrive once we're in the clear (vaccine, breakthroughs in how to contain and heal the virus.)
The GREAT NEWS is that there is likely to be a surge in demand for design when the initial threat diminishes because people will have been reminded of just how precious their homes are (having likely been cooped up in them far more than normal.) Every storm cloud has a silver lining.
I am going to be attending and speaking on social media strategies that work at IWCE in Charlotte March 25-26. And in April, I will be going to High Point and delivering a training on "Marketing Luxury Design." Hope to fist bump you there!
HUGE HEALTHY HUGS,
Melissa
