When I opened Instagram yesterday, I saw my client Debbie in Paris!
It was such a thrill to see her on a sourcing expedition for the week with her new client. (They're doing the Paris antique markets!)
Debbie loves to work with builders and handle projects from the ground up. She'd wrapped up a 2-year client project a few months ago and had been concerned about where her next project would come from.
She was tempted to scatter her efforts and target both former clients as well as Houzz and take more decorating than design projects.
In her spotlight sessions in The Go Beyond Intensive, I pointed out that this wasn't her sweet spot and she'd do better focusing on what she loved most.
She agreed (and she got a lot more excited) and we put together her plan, in the intensive, to focus her efforts on strategic outreach to specific luxury home builders. Debbie took the targeted action to GO BEYOND where she'd been to where she really wanted to be.
Her timing was perfect and in one of her conversations, the builder said he wanted to introduce her to his clients. They'd had another designer on board and it wasn't a good fit.
Debbie was the perfect fit! They broke ground two months ago and the client asked if she'd be able to join them for a European shopping trip for the new home this week.
She said YES! (And so would you.) Focused efforts deliver fantastic and targeted results. Random efforts deliver random results. WHICH DO YOU WANT?
Not only is she doing an incredible project but it's exactly the kind of project she loves to do. Remember she likes working with builders and ground up is her specialty. (It isn't everyone's by a long shot.)
