Chairish the Future was a big success! I have to say having never attended a live auction before that was a blast! I knew just when to bid to drive up the pricing and at the same time when to bid so I'd win and I did. I'm the proud owner of three new chairs for my ever growing collection with a fourth on the way since my Prince commissioned one that had sold! We also snagged a week at the beach in an 1800 square foot condo, ooooh fun! And I met VERN YIP!

San Francisco bound! This week I'm in San Francisco for Alex Mandossian's TSS Reunion. I'm truly looking forward to meeting my mastermind members first hand and connecting with successful mentors to continue my business growth.
ACC Craft Show coming up! Are you going to attend? The weekend of March 13-15 is Atlanta Market but also the American Craft Council Show and I will definitely be checking it out. Years past I've gotten great finds in art apparel as well as artwork for clients and my own collection. It is a global gathering of talent you don't want to miss.

Do You Have a Dream?
I had a very interesting discussion with a colleague recently. I was doing my usual probing about their life, their future and their possibilities. Those of you that know me will be familiar with the question I asked. "What is your 5 year goal?" I got a quick and pat answer regarding the next step up the corporate ladder, it wasn't big enough. So I rephrased "what is your dream?" The response was almost expected " well, realistically . . ." STOP right there!
A dream by its very definition isn't realistic, it is something hoped for, ambitious about, often perceived as something difficult to attain, and it may be impractical. The point is it is BIG, HAIRY, and AUDACIOUS, it is never realistic! Now the funny part to this conversation is that unbeknownst to me, this colleague spent three hours when we hung up thinking about what I'd said. He then slept on it and when he awoke he was on fire with excitement! He got it. He understood as he shared with me that he'd been sleep walking through life; he had only seen as far as his reality had allowed him to, and he hadn't ventured further. Our conversation unlocked his imagination and his ambition.

From Cyberspace to Real Results
I know many professionals puzzled by the advent of social media want to know if it can yield real results, it can and it does. Right now I have the honor and privilege of a first class trip to China in April to kick off the Guangzhou Design Week that comes up later this year. They are doing a 10 page feature spread in a Chinese Design publication with my work and background. This came about because I am in tune, in touch, turned on, and connected! The quote from the USA coordinator was "you are prolific and all over the web, everywhere I look, I see you."
I've had a couple of other opportunities arise that, while I can't share details, I can say that they are through those I've met in the networks and would not have found them or they me any other way. Did I expect to do business this quickly online? Not really, I understand that social media is about building relationships and that takes time. Are you willing to INVEST the time in relationships that will provide a solid, measureable RETURN? I hope so, and I hope you'll join the next teleseminar on social media! |

A disappointed salesman of Coca Cola returns from his Middle East assignment.
A friend asked, "Why weren't you successful with the Arabs?"
The salesman explained "When I got posted in the Middle East, I was very confident that I would make a good sales pitch as Cola is virtually unknown there. But, I had a problem I didn't know how to speak Arabic. So, I planned to convey the message through three posters.

First poster: A man lying in the hot desert sand...totally exhausted and fainting.
Second poster: The man is drinking our Cola.
Third poster: Our man is now totally refreshed.
And Then these posters were pasted all over the place."
"Then that should have worked!" said the friend.
"The hell it should have!" said the salesman, "I didn't realize that Arabs read from right to left"
