Where's Melissa? East Coast Bound!

Dear ,

Maverick Marketing in DC! I'm headed for just a quick overnight to Yanik Silver's Maverick Marketing event in DC. He is one of the select internet marketing giants that enjoyed a weekend with Sir Richard Branson on Necker Island, what a gift! He is going to share the wisdom he learned from a business billionaire and other nuggets I look forward to sharing with you!

Family Fun! I'm then going to join my stepsister and her extended family for her 70th birthday (her late father was 15 years my Mom's senior). Since I've only visited with her once in the last 25 years, this will be the first time I've gotten to meet her family. It is getting rarer and rarer for me to have people in my life that actually knew my Mom first hand, Mary Ellen did!

PR lessons and Press Kit Magic! Be sure to check out Melissa Recommends. I'm featuring The Fearless PR Coach Carey Powell and her hottest program, "5 Secrets to Getting Free PR for Your Solo-Business." You won't want to miss her call next Tuesday!

Speaking of PR! Be sure to check out my feature on http://serenityindesign.blogspot.com - Cynthia Martin is a retired interior designer who supports her colleagues success by writing about them! When you want to be featured, be sure to contact her. She is a delight to work with, and makes it easy when you have a website that provides great portfolio shots and ready bio.

Prospering by Design, Always!

Melissa

WORDS TO LIVE BY

When things go wrong
and sometimes they will
when the road you are struggling in
Is a twisted hill

When you need help
and the debts are high,
you want to smile
But you have to sigh

SUCCESS STRATEGIES

3 Simple & Quick Ways to Recharge Every Day

Do you ever just run out of steam when you are working? Do you get project block or feel stuck or stalled? The quickest and simplest ways to recharge YOUR productivity and YOUR creativity are:

Change the Scenery
This can be as easy as getting outdoors for a 15 minute walk. Take time to relax in your garden, on your deck, or looking out your balcony. When getting outside isn't an option, even just moving to a different room in the house (when you have a home office), or spending a few minutes in the company break room can be all you need to jumpstart again.

SOCIAL NETWORKING KNOWHOW

Twittering with the Big Boys

I had the opportunity recently to attend an Atlanta TWEETUP. That is where those of us used to communicating by Twitter only get to meet face to face, swap news, business strategies, and socialize! It was a lot of fun and found a great new place to grab great "fast casual" eats, Fuego Mundo.

More importantly, I had a chance to hobnob with a couple of guys that I follow and who follow me online. Their followings are enormous and they have worked hard to get there. They are both making significant monies online monthly, one in his true online business selling coaching in technical marketing, the other selling insurance (that is not a typo, life and health insurance.) Both shared the details on how Twitter has made dramatic changes lately and is likely to continue doing so. The changes will make it significantly more challenging to gain and grow a large following rapidly. The size of your following matters in how much business you do.

While the type of interaction you provide is important, you must:

  • Give real content value.
  • Be persistent and consistent.
  • Share who you are in a social, friendly way.

The larger your following is, the more apt you are to realize results. You may see less than 5% response rate but when you have a following of over 50K or 70K (and both of these colleagues do) the results count. Yes, I do see a response rate that matters to me at 13K followers and I am growing constantly.
