Where's Melissa? Heading to Wilmington, NC

Dear

Have YOU ever been volunteered on stage? You all know I'm a professional speaker and really comfortable with that, but HOLY COW, there I was midbite (I never can pass up dessert!) when the entertainer for the evening selected me from a room full of 250 leaders in the furniture industry to join him onstage! You can imagine I was mortified and quite mute but played along and had a grand time. Sometimes surprises can really work to our benefit. Did you know that it is far easier for a speaker to be heard than to be silent and simply an actor, yikes that was scary.

Did YOU become a superstar? Well I did, sort of at least, in fact it was the best opportunity ever because by the end of what felt like 2 hours but was only about 40 minutes, everyone in that room knew my face, my name (at least Melissa) and several came up to me in the days that followed to congratulate me on my stage show! So to leverage, I am sending a letter with a picture attached, one of the entertainer and one of me (dangerous with both but want it to be memorable). And sharing with these leaders how I can serve and support their success with my speaking, training, consulting and mentoring in creative marketing, motivation, and mindset!

So the next time you find yourself in an unexpected situation, take a minute and think about how you can leverage the opportunity either then or later. You will be surprised at how many opportunities are coming your way to move your business forward and step out from being a best kept secret. Oh and I'd love to hear any stories you want to share about when you've been volunteered!

Taking it farther together!

Melissa

PS. I'm headed this week to Wilmington, NC for a one day private mentoring with Bob Jenkins, better known to many as BobtheTeacher. Excited about the new ideas and directions this will bring!

The Best in Law of Attraction

I've got some good news and bad news.
The bad news: there's no key to the Universe.
The good news: it was never locked."

The quote above is entirely true but most people don't ever understand this. Some of you know that I suffer long term depression and that for over two decades my life was a real emotional roller coaster. (No, I'm not diagnosed bipolar, but some days it felt like it.) I don't want to be on medication as it impairs my productivity. I turned to books, teachers, and experts on LOA. It has made a huge difference in my life. Oh and this dovetails with my belief that there is NO secret, but the greatest secret resides within each one of us.

I wanted to give you this amazing connection for the holidays. Hemal Radia is an extraordinary LOA expert and coach. (Please tell him I sent you, I love to refer!) His gentle guidance, encouragement and clarity (yes, I can be scattered) has made a big difference. SUCCESS STRATEGIES

5 Ways to Make the Most of the Holiday Season

The holidays are on top of us, the Christmas crazies are here! Whether you celebrate Hanukah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa, this can be a stressful time of year. The key is to remember the reason for the season, GIVING and put yourself at the top of your list. So here are just 5 quick and easy ways to make the most of the season.

#1 Take a success retreat day. During all the hustle and bustle, tying up of loose ends in business, and dreaming of the year of promises ahead, take a day or even just a long lunch out at your favorite place and bring along a notebook or pad of paper (not a laptop) and brainstorm ideas for the New Year. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy this is when you take yourself away from distractions and simply allow your mind to move forward. (I did this the other evening at dinner by myself at my favorite Atlanta Italian spot, Di Paolo Cucina, and came away with 6 full pages of notes, ideas, follow ups and more.)

#2 Explore your library of shelf help, invest in you. This is perhaps the most important step of all. I'm betting if you are anything like me that you have pdf documents stored unread in your computer system, programs perhaps not even unwrapped sitting on your shelf. You had the best of intentions but business got in the way. This is your time to pull them out, boot them up and invest in yourself and your success with new tools, techniques, strategies and more. Get a fresh perspective and some new ideas to take action on.

#3 Just say thank you. Craft 5 hand written thank you notes each day for 5 days at the holidays. It can be before, during or after, and regardless of what tradition you celebrate. Hand written notes are so rare these days and mean so much. My favorite holiday isn't the one with most presents but the one with the most cards and remembrances from friends, family, and clients.

#4 Enjoy an extra or new workout. Now this might sound unfun to you, but with all the eating that we do at this time of year, not to mention the sugary treats we bake up, extra holiday cheer we imbibe, and fat laden too-good-to-miss appetizers you'll feel much better when you keep your exercise routine on track. In fact, it is a great time to try out a new class or maybe explore a new Wii routine. Beat the pudge before it happens!

#5 Indulge yourself at the spa (this works for you guys too!) With all the running around, shopping, cooking, cleaning, and preparations that go into celebrating the holiday, be sure to add an afternoon in at your favorite day spa. And if you can't spare that, then take off at least an hour or so for a manicure and pedicure or a massage. You'll feel the difference.

Bonus Idea! Be sure that you take a minute to assess those subscriptions you have both online and offline. Keep the ones that you are truly benefiting from and deriving value from and dump the rest. When you don't have time to get to it, it goes. This will lighten up your inbox and your mailbox quickly and easily. (I have a backlog of three months of magazines on average, time to ditch many!) And remember you can save money and space by moving some of your offline subscriptions to online.

SOCIAL NETWORKING AT THE HOLIDAYS

How to Spread the Cheer!

This can be a crazy time of year for any kind of networking but the social networks particularly are blowing up with special offers, last minute sales, and super discounts. Amidst all the noise and clutter, when you really want to be heard, consider these easy ways.

#1 Share your holiday decorating photos! From trees to wreaths, tabletop to outdoor snowmen, we want to see what you are doing.

#2 Share your holiday traditions! We always love to know how other people celebrate their holidays. There is nothing more interesting than unique cultural customs at special times of the year.

#3 Share your recipes! This is easy to do in blog style with a link. I got a great one at Thanksgiving for Cranberry Ice, yum. Imagine being able to grow your holiday treat file by just a couple more this year.

#4 Share your resolutions! You are much more likely to stay on track when you have a whole tribe of us ready to support you and hold you to your resolutions.

#5 Share your holiday funny moments! My favorite was the year that I set the sweet potatoes afire and the fired department showed up, big red engine and all. Yikes, embarrassing but we laughed all the way through it.

ABOUT MELISSA

Hi! I'm Melissa Galt and as a successful business creativepreneur and business owner of the last 15+ years I learned that the key to a profitable business is all in the marketing. I was spoiled at the start because corporate America had done it for me so when I jumped into the wild blue yonder of owning my own business I had a lot to learn, and learn it I did! And I've gone from wasting thousands on advertising, direct response mail, expos and more to creating a finally honed marketing machine that regularly delivers perfect prospects whom I convert to ideal clients for lifetime demand. Can I show you how to do the same?

As entrepreneurs we all have the dream of designing a business that is both profitable, passionate, purposeful, and gives us the lifestyle we deserve and want. That means:

  • Time for our family and friends
  • Great health without stress or difficult clients
  • Rewarding relationships
  • Real and regular vacations to the town next door or around the world
  • Full pipeline of perfect prospects who appreciate our talent and gifts

But too often that dream gets buried in 15 hour days, 6 days a week, years without vacation and missing friends and family. Marketing makes the difference and from mindset to strategy, Twitter to Facebook, blogging to article marketing, passive revenue products to your own teleseminars I've got the solutions.

Please consider me your marketing success resource to move your business forward and become the thriving profitable opportunity you dreamed of! I welcome and invite your emails, Tweets, Facebook posts, LinkedIN connections, and even phone calls. I'm old fashioned but learned how to harness today's marketing tools for real success. You can too!
