Happy Saint Patrick's Day !

I couldn't resist the title of this newsletter. And I'm hoping that it made you smile and open out of curiosity if not habit. It reminds me of the importance of subject lines and headlines. Whether your email gets opened can depend largely on your subject line, whether you are sending to a friend, a prospect, a client, a reporter, or anyone else.

Is it personal? Is it engaging? Does it create curiosity? Is it outrageous? Is it provocative? Does it ask a question? Is it short? One of my favorites showed up this week. It was ridiculously simple and for that reason I assumed it was personal (it wasn't but I opened and read it). It was just "hey." That's it, no name or anything. Would it have worked for you?

If you wanna get lucky with turning your prospects into clients, you must pay close attention and invest some real time in your subject lines. I've been known to spend more time crafting a subject line than the actual email!

Oh and one more PRODUCTIVITY TIP: leverage your subject lines as a way to find important and relevant emails later and keep track of specific conversations. When you change a thread, change the subject line.

I was ready to write a check right then and there, not later. How you manage and bookkeeping is of no concern to me, nor should it be. When your client is ready to buy, take their money!
