 >> Note from Melissa ~ Boost Your Creativity with Bacon!

Hey !

At a recent business networking event, they put on a quite a feast. Being the foodie that I am I made sure I made the complete rounds. My favorite was the bacon and peanut butter in a mini croissant. WOW, what a delicious blend of sweet and salty. At the same station the chef had done a bratwurst wrapped in bacon, wrapped in chopped pork (sin inside sin inside sin), it was tasty but too rich for seconds.

Why am I babbling about bacon? Well I've noticed that in the last year or so it has become the hot food to get creative with from dunked in chocolate to bacon on cupcakes and dressing a martini. Bacon gets creative cooks (and evidently artists and fashionistas) going. What gets your creative juices flowing? Look around is it a new material on the market? Is it a new marketing technique? Is it a new network (no not another one!)?

As business owners, solopreneurs, and home based CEO's we have to stay jazzed up about what we deliver and creativity is an integral part to that. Find your BACON, your muse and you'll keep your edge sharp and your clients clamoring for more.

Got a unique creative trick or your own muse to share, I'd love to hear about it, just hit reply to this email and let me know.

Going farther together (with bacon!)

Hugs,

Find Your Why!

Last weekend was the PADV (Partnership Against Domestic Violence) gala event. Now I'm not one for black tie generally speaking, kind of a lot of pomp and circumstance, but this event was different. It was different because we all knew our WHY! Oh and this isn't limited to women and children but includes men. It is also non-specific to race. Here's just a few stats about domestic violence to open your eyes:

  • One in four women experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
  • Every 9 seconds a woman is battered in the United States.
  • On average, more than three women a day are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in the United States.
  • 40% of teenage girls age 14 to 17 report knowing someone their age who has been hit or beaten by a boyfriend.
  • Young women between the ages of 16-24 in dating relationships experience the highest rate of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Now, this may not be your cause, it is mine. I have been a victim. I have friends who have been victims, friends who are successful independent business women (you'd never know.) Being part of this event and supporting it with my time, energy, and resources is making a difference.

Find a cause that makes a difference for you. If PADV is it, we welcome you. If not, that is totally fine, I simply encourage you to find a cause you can relate to and that moves you to action.

It's Your Choice!

I got a wake up call at a recent business networking event that I hadn't attended in several months. In speaking with a colleague, when I asked how business was I got the reply "terrible." In fact, she went on to explain, that she felt certain that 80% of her colleagues between the ages of 39 and 65 felt the same way and everyone disliked their business as much as she now did. Wow.

As I stood listening, I couldn't help but imagine how much of this was directly related to her attitude. Yes, the economy has been off, and yet I know many in her same industry that are doing fine. In fact I know several who actually had a banner year in 2010. What is the difference? They intended it. They planned it, they kept their doubt demons at bay and plunged forward with optimism, with gratitude, with the idea that it would all work out. It did. Sure they faced challenges, obstacles and road blocks along the way, we all do. And they chose to surmount those challenges, overcome the obstacles and blast through the road blocks.

Now, I know you may be thinking this is all Pollyanna and a bunch of hype but it's not. I know from years of first hand experience the powerful impact of attitude governing altitude. Never under estimate that you attract who you are.

 >> How to Work with Melissa

As a creativepreneur, I am much like you, we like to chase bright shiny opportunities, ideas, and gurus. Allow me to show you the benefit of focus, planning, goal setting, strategy and the right tools. Allow me to work with you to bring your dreams closer faster, and shave years off an otherwise long and winding road.

My greatest joy is to strip obstacles from your path, make marketing easy, motivate you toward your big dreams, and show you that you deserve the life that you design. This can take different forms.

I invite you to get in touch to find out more about how I can close the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. I know I didn't get on my path with purpose until I was coached.

Going farther together, always!
