 >> Note from Melissa ~ Why Bad Stuff Happens in 3's

Hey ,

Tuesday night I was driving home from Nashville and I got lost. Yes, I have a GPS, I'd even done mapquest but I joined a friend for dinner just outside Nashville and she gave me another route. It was pitch black, I am geographically challenged and what should have been a 4 hour, became a 6 hour dodging heavy road construction. I didn't handle it well, my frustration and tiredness added up to upset and it pulled my energy to a very low place.

Well you know how when one bad thing happens, it kind of starts a domino effect? Wednesday morning I struggled to get up (missing my usual 8 hours, grrr) and had an appointment to take Yang to the vet (she is pulling her fur out again) only to find I had a flat tire. Okay, time to shift my energy!

That domino effect is no accident it happens because we let our energy slide and we don't make the effort to bring it back up. I am so very lucky that my flat tire occurred in the safety of my garage and not in the dark of an almost deserted highway late Tuesday night. I'm also lucky that the service tech at the dealership I use spoils me rotten and came out at no charge to fix it. (Yes, they have my business for life!) Lesson learned, glitches occur. It is far better and wiser to ACT not REACT and keep gratitude in our heart for every circumstance.

My low energy cost me time and emotions, what are you burning up by getting frustrated, irritated, angry and more instead of moving through what needs to happen and knowing it will all work out?

Hugs,

Melissa

Finish What You've Started

As I was going through the opportunities and mentors who have great programs and products to enrich your path to success, I realized that you are probably a lot like me and have plenty already OPEN items on your task list with little time to finish them. So instead of recommending another new tool, hot system, or can't miss event (yes you can miss them), I'm recommending you FINISH what you have open.

At the very least, this means:

  1. Dump your email delete box.
  2. Clean up your desktop icons (ditch unused icons and files)
  3. Purge your sent files in email.
  4. Defrag your harddrive, compress files, and speed up your computer's performance.
  5. Actually read those PDF's you downloaded for free.
  6. Take time to view those videos you thought you couldn't live without.
  7. Schedule listening time (or pop them on your IPOD) for those audios you had to have.

It's Simple, It's Not Easy

Have you ever noticed that most of the "stuff" they try to sell us here on the information super highway, on television, and at the big box retailers has the tag "easy" attached to it? In fact most everything I see has "quick and easy" attached to it. Whether it's about getting rich (never quick or easy), losing weight (definitely not quick or easy), finding a soulmate (you must be kidding me!), or any other myriad of solution and scheme, rarely is anything truly quick or easy.

Most things though are "simple." We make them hard or perceive them as difficult because they require discipline. Losing weight isn't easy, it is simple. It means adjusting your diet and adding exercise. This isn't rocket science but to hear most complain about it and to see how few do it, you'd think it was. The same goes for success in business. Most people would rather look for a quick fix (doesn't exist) than take the simple solution ...
