Failure to Triumph at 94 feet
Published: Tue, 07/19/11
Hey ,
I did it, I did it, I did it! I am now officially,
a Baby Bubbler as they like to call newly certified
scuba divers. And I have to confess that I almost
didn't make it. Swimming has never been an issue
and wasn't here either. I couldn't equalize. That
means that as I'd descend I wasn't able to clear my
ears and instead felt pressure and pain building up.
You can't dive if you can't equalize. I was frustrated
and feeling like a total failure until I had a long
and unexpected conversation with a new friend
Tuesday night.
She wisely pointed out that I'm very good at a lot
of things (I had my "yeah but" record on rapid replay,
discounting anything I'd ever accomplished, bet you
know that feeling.) Evidently diving literally had me
diving emotionally and mentally as well and what came
up was a bit unexpected ... read more about how to
conquer those surprise demons of sabotage and anxiety
at work and at home ...
Clear thinking and confident focus is essential to
keeping your business and your life on track. I very
nearly missed a critical bucket list experience
because I allowed that old enemy self sabotage to
blindside me with old emotional scripts. I've
surfaced, cleared and am equal on more than just
the diving front.
