Hey ,
As you read this I'll be in a four day conference in Anaheim, California attending the National Speaker's Association (NSA) convention. These are great opportunities to connect with colleagues I know only virtually, listen to expert speakers on growing my business globally, and learn the latest in marketing tactics, shortcuts, and strategies to capture a bigger share of the pie.
And, for YOU, it means I'll be bringing back cool new tools and techniques to build your business bigger. In fact, today's article is about exactly that. I got inspired on my ride from the airport to the hotel. The taxi driver was uncomfortable taking me to a local grocery store for almond milk. (Yes, I considered packing it but at 62 pounds, even with first class allowances, I was pushing limits on my one bag.) I am lactose intolerant and drink a shake every day for breakfast, this was vital to me. I don't know why he didn't want to do it, but he didn't.
When we pulled into the hotel he ran my charge slip (I do everything by credit card to keep up with it easily and earn points!). What surprised me was that he said he had "blocked the tip" since he wasn't able to take me to the grocery store (he was able but unwilling). By doing this he caught me off guard. I'd been calculating the tip in my head, reducing from my customary 20% since he was not going by the grocery store. His "blocking" restored my faith in his service single handedly. If he had given me his card and asked for the return fare, I'd have scheduled that with him. (He didn't so lost a $45 fare.)
