Thursday night I was headed down to the Botanical Gardens for an alumni event when I took a detour. As I came through the toll station on GA400, it was a parking lot. There was no chance I'd get down there for another hour so I redirected and wound up at the business club I belong to.
Up on the 26th floor overlooking Buckhead and Atlanta with a lemon drop in hand when I met a most interesting man (no, this isn't about romance, darn it!)
He said he was in the apparel business and as the conversation progressed, it turned out he sold t-shirts. Well, I don't know about you, but when I hear t-shirt I generally think of those $10-$25 sort of shirts you get at the airport or sports store. He sells the $95 version!
Pretty impressive and he's doing well. This is in contrast to a friend who sells to the college market at the markup expected. I got some great lessons to share, READ MORE.
Big take away, it isn't what it costs you but what you can sell it for. This can be said for services as easily as products. What's the difference between a designer or a coach who is selling hourly services at $75 vs. one who works at $200+/hour?
