Is there something wrong with this?

Melissa's Musings

, I've fallen into a sketchy pattern lately.

I've designed my business so thoroughly around not selling and not pitching that I've realized I may have created a false intention in my business.

There is nothing wrong with selling!

There I said it.

There is nothing wrong with pitching!

What happens is that we have bad experiences with selling so we label it all bad. We are throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I actually invite providers to "sell me" when they have something I want. I know that may sound funny, but I like to watch someone in the sales process.

When they know what they are doing, you never feel sold, you simply feel like they provided what you wanted. They came from a place of service.

Now, I've always prided myself on being able to create new clients without selling and using a process I created, but the truth is, I'm still selling. There has to be a point at which I ask for the sale, if there isn't, no one would buy.

When you aren't getting the clients you want, in other words the buy in you want for your services, take a look at your beliefs around selling?

Does selling feel distasteful to you? Does it make you uncomfortable? Is it best compared to chewing foil? (My favorite image!)

The reality is that when you are truly and authentically in service, selling is comfortable. It is simply the next step in being of right service.

To further this path of learning, you'll be getting an invitation early next week to my Craft Your Brand's Curb Appeal intensive.

I'm hosting this small group (limited to 12 participants) LIVE event in Atlanta, February 25-27.

Inside we are going to eliminate any obstacles that you have to selling and put you squarely in the place of coming from your authentic service.

By removing the barriers both subconscious and conscious that you have to selling, you'll feel more at ease in your business and fall back in love with what you do. (Think of this as a VALENTINE FOR YOUR BUSINESS.)

Go on now and SAVE THE DATES, if you are interested. Details are coming and I'm delighted to have a conversation with you now, if you want to jump in since seats are limited.

PULLING BACK THE CURTAIN, you might be saying, "whoa Melissa, you haven't even told me the price." You are right and that is deliberate, not sneaky, not manipulative (I'm teaching as I'm doing this) because when you know you want to be there, price is your secondary concern, not your primary. A conversation is totally free, it is simply about expressing interest, not making the commitment.

In your business, when you have a conversation with someone, are you giving them a chance to explore or expecting them to commit immediately?

When you allow exploration, you can BOTH decide if it's a fit and then create the path for the resources to follow, when it is a fit.

Look for the details for CRAFT YOUR BRAND'S CURB APPEAL, Live in Atlanta. And yes, you do have a BRAND! (Even if you can't see it, I promise together we'll get that clarity, focus, and confidence so you can move your business forward.)

Hugs and Have an Amazing Weekend!

Melissa
