are you like Sue?

I've got a speaking colleague named Sue (that's what we'll call her here for privacy purposes.)

(Oh and if you aren't a speaker, stick with me here, this is going to apply to YOU!)

A couple of years ago, Sue and I sat down and I coached her into getting her book out and booking a boatload of new business.

In the 18 months that followed, she was a whirlwind of activity.

She launched her book, a short, value-packed, brilliantly branded "big business card."

Combined with strategic outreach on LinkedIn and savvy networking, Sue used the book to garner a lot of new gigs.

She filled her business with international and national engagements. BUT (hey you knew a BUT was coming ...)

Sue has a BIG CHALLENGE.

Despite the successes, despite her hard work, despite the accolades she's received, she doesn't feel like a success. In fact, she's still crying the poor me card when we get together.

Instead of appreciating the opportunities she's garnered and staying focused on what is working, she is focused squarely on lack and limitation and on what isn't happening.

It's frustrating to watch because what she is focusing on is starting to come into view and all the hard work she did is circling back to lack of opportunities and her "old" poverty mindset.

Sue's mindset never really made the shift that her activities created. She doesn't really believe that she is better off today than she was (and yet she absolutely is with more income, more impact and increased visibility and credibility. Heck, she's got the most testimonials of any speaker of her topic on all of LinkedIn, and that means business!)

HERE'S YOUR CHALLENGE:
Your success is literally locked between your ears.

While you can launch a book (or a podcast, or a program) and it may take off (Sue's did) BUT (there's that damned "BUT" again) if you don't shift your old thinking, it will come back to sabotage your new results.

You can do new marketing, make new connections, and see a new influx of clients. BUT, if you haven't shifted your old thinking, it will come back to sabotage your new success.

Make a decision today to change you focus from what's not working to what is working. Focus on what is working.

Get grateful today for everything that is going right, from the pen you write with to the keyboard you are reading this on, from the sky being a beautiful blue to the blessing of rain to water the earth, from the exciting prospects you are meeting to the new clients you can't wait to win.

Your success is integrally tied to what you think about all the time.

Your success is intrinsically tied to your full time FOCUS.

Yes, this does mean that every day, you have to be vigilant. When you find yourself slipping into old thought patterns, and allowing negative beliefs to derail you, you must pull up your MENTAL UNDERPANTS (that's an image you won't forget) and turn your focus onto the positive you have.

If in doubt, just listen to the news, any news. The fact that you are reading this makes you one of the LUCKIEST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET, it means you have food, shelter, electricity, education, and a computer. Millions in this world today don't.

Get over yourself to get on with your success.

Oh, and I almost forgot ... I've got a free training coming up, so keep your eyes on your inbox. THIS WILL ROCK THE HOUSE!

Mega Hugs,
Melissa
