what are you leading with?

I've been working with a tile contractor, Tim (not his real name), the last couple of weeks on two bath remodels for long time clients.

He started out really strong, creative, talented, and had a couple of good assistants.

He requested a deposit to get started for materials, I furnished it gladly.

This last week, Tim told me he fired his team (uh oh) and he has picked up new help.

He has also been demanding the balance on one of the jobs which is still incomplete and you never pay a contractor until the work is done.

(I learned that lesson over 20 years ago when I paid a painter to finish the interior painting of my house. I headed off to work and came home to the house being the entire wrong color. He'd painted the walls the trim color (I don't do white walls) and the trim the wall color (beige trim,  ugh.)

Tim is so focused on the money that he has forgotten about delivering value.

And he has forgotten that when he delivers value, the money flows.

Last night, I left him two checks for partial completion and put them in a drawer at one project site. Several hours later, Tim texted me that he didn't see the checks and "feels less motivated when he isn't paid."

He had been paid and yet wasn't focused on completion of the jobs (when he'll get the balance) but instead blind to the abundance in his hand.

In your business, it's very much the same.

When you get stuck focused on the money instead of delivering value, your abundance stops flowing.

Before I work with any client, I provide value with specific strategies, tools, and partnerships that will move them forward.

I know that when I create value of that nature, the money will flow.

If instead, I focus on the money WITHOUT the value, there is no flow.

What are you providing in advance that focuses you on delivering value in advance of money flowing?

I call this VIA (Value In Advance) that delivers MIA (Money In Abundance).

Whatever kind of creativepreneur you are, a designer, an architect, a builder, or a real estate agent,  you are also a coach for your clients, and you can (and must) provide VIA to get MIA.

If you are scared of giving away your talent and ideas, this is particularly important!

(Besides you and I both know that no one is going to take action on what you tell them without you. People are generally a bit hesitant and just having your ideas isn't enough, they need your talent and guidance to take them where they want to go.)

I've got a webinar coming up, specifically on how to create your special brand of VIA (Value in Advance) to get more MIA (Money In Abundance) Keep an eye out for it!

Mega Hugs,
Melissa

PS. With my birthday this week, the universe gifted me two new business coaching clients and the challenging contractor emailed this morning, he is back on track and delivering value. Hallelujah!
