Every decision we make in life has trade-offs. You have to establish what your criteria are for the trade-offs that will come up in life or you will get stuck and stalled at every decision in a desire never to lose an option.
When you decide to go to dinner with a friend instead of staying late in the office, there is a trade-off. When you decide to join one bunch of friends for a party turning down another invitation, there is a trade-off. When you accept a new project or take on a new client it will create a new path of decisions.
Years ago, when I got into Cornell, I had a decision to make. You see, I'd also gotten accepted at the schools that I really wanted to go to, University of Colorado, Denver and University of California, Santa Barbara. I made the trade-off decision to get the highest quality of education instead of having fun in an awesome location (Cornell is located in upstate New York with winters that last most of the school year, it is also known for its academic
rigour!)
