Much like a magician's sleight of hand, there are people around you every day who you have big illusions about and who have big illusions about you. Everyone has a story, some people have many stories, there might be a story they share with the world, another they show their family, and another they are actually living. It can be exhausting to inhabit that kind of duality, but many do.
Too often we judge people (and books) by their cover and that is just part of the illusion. Have you ever seen those shots in People Magazine where the celebrity is caught in a "private" moment, perhaps they are taking their child to school, they might be grocery shopping, grabbing a Starbucks, but they aren't walking the red carpet. And our illusion is just a little bit cracked, they are much more human than we realize.
The same applies to non-celebrities! Rarely is anyone's life quite as you imagine it to be, and on the flip side, rarely is the inside of your life, quite as anyone imagines it to be. Life is magic without the illusions. Step into the reality, relinquish the appearances you are working (even subconsciously) to keep up, and embrace the magic that is you.
