Did you know that happy is no more than a habit? It's an attitude that you learn to adopt, cultivate, and incorporate into your every action. It is a habit and muscle that you build on, one action, one thought, and one feeling at a time. It isn't nearly as complicated as you might think.
I come from a background with a diagnosis of long term depression. From the ages of 17-37, my life was an emotional rollercoaster because that is what I created. Did I do it knowingly, no, of course not.
It took me years of personal development study to understand my role and responsibility in creating my life. It also took surviving two suicide attempts. Happy isn't something that I arrived at one day. It is something I work at on a daily basis. It is a habit I cultivate and you can too.
Happiness is a choice you make in every moment, in every circumstance. It is the perspective you bring to events and circumstances, and includes faith, patience, and tolerance. The cool part about happy is it has nothing to do with anyone but you. Happiness is an inside game and only you can create it inside of you.
